Intensed Pulsed Light (IPL)

What is Intense Pulsed Light?

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) has been around for decades and has been used to treat dry eye disease (DED) and meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD) in the eye world since 2012 when it was first published by Dr. Toyos.

Dr. Pradhan has been using IPL in her practice since 2017. It is a safe and effective way to treat DED and MGD (in patients with skin type Fitzpatrick 1-4). It gently stimulates the stem cells of the meibomian glands in your eyelids to make better oil (meibum). It also reduces inflammation on the ocular surface. It can help improve contact lens (CL) intolerance as well. IPL can also be used to treat styes and stubborn chalazions.

If you have skin type 5-6, we have other effective modalities of treatment for you including the OptiPlus and the OptiLift.
